My Journey

My research interests lie at the nexus of climate change, environmental health, and ecosystem services. Being born and brought up in India, I relate very closely to the severe health challenges people face due to adverse environmental conditions that co-exist with evolving economic, cultural, and social conditions. These first-hand experiences have helped shape my career goal of pursuing research that can inform decisions to improve the health and welfare of communities, particularly those who are vulnerable.

Building on the quantitative and analytical techniques I learned at the Indian Statistical Institute, my research journey started at the University of Maryland with developing econometric models to estimate the value of milder seasons and welfare impacts under climate scenarios for households in the United States. I gained valuable experience in other dimensions of climate change impacts by working on integrated assessment models at the Joint Global Change Research Institute. During my 17-year tenure at RTI International, my research portfolio covered three cross-cutting areas: human health benefits of environmental policies; climate change assessments; and ecosystem services and nature-based solutions.

At TerraHealthEcon, I draw on over two decades of experience to build an interdisciplinary, evidence‑driven consulting practice focused on the health and economic impacts of environmental change and on supporting sustainable, equitable policy, and investment decisions.
